So everyone knows, this was not an EV, went to get the phone and called 911, then had to get the baby seat outhouse first time we opened the door there was fire coming out if the dash on the passenger side. The second time it was up the windshield and in the center of the dash, it was really hot.
The door got left open because we needed to get important baby items out of the other side.
A hose would not have done anything, as this fire spread faster than I could imagine. The explosions were the airbags, scared the crap out of us.
No, this was not intentional, this was not wanted, not expected, and we really need a reliable vehicle back again.
Ford has not responded other that to say contact your insurance. Insurance has the truck and is investigating.
The fire department did a good job, although the hood latch gave them some trouble. The engine was completely untouched by the fire.
The side of the house was damaged and is being repaired this week.
Yes, we should have closed the door, but we will say this was Pure Panic mode and you don’t think straight.
The truck had no mods other than the window tint. We bought it brand new in April, not used, Ford was pushing out old stock inventory and we got a great price and financing we will never be able to get again. So, we are deeply upset about it.
Important thing is, it can be replaced, our home was not destroyed, and everyone is ok.
