Iran’s National Petrochemical Company confirmed attacks on petrochemical facilities in the Pars special economic energy zone in southern Iran, according to a statement released by Iran’s state news agency, IRNA. “Safety, firefighting, rescue, and operational teams immediately arrived at the scene, and necessary measures to manage the emergency have begun,” the company said adding that there were no casualties. Earlier on Monday, Israel’s defense minister claimed an attack on a major petrochemical factory in the nearby city of Asaluyeh.
Jamie Dimon, the chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, has warned that the war in Iran could cause prolonged oil and commodity price shocks, the reshaping of global supply chains and lead to higher inflation and interest rates than investors expect.
Dimon called the conflict one of the biggest challenges facing the global economy in his annual letter to shareholders released this morning, a message that is closely watched by Wall Street and the business community. “The ongoing war in Ukraine, the conflict between Iran and both the United States and Israel, and other major hostilities across the globe should permanently dispel the illusion that the world is safe,” he said.

Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant has come dangerously close to being hit during the war, the International Atomic Energy Agency said on Monday, with one strike landing just 75 meters from the site.
President Trump has threatened to attack power plants across Iran, but it is unclear if Bushehr was a potential target. Attacks on or near Bushehr “could cause a severe radiological accident with harmful consequences for people and the environment in Iran and beyond,” Rafael Grossi, the energy agency’s director, said in a statement. He added: “a nuclear facility and surrounding areas should never be struck.”
