We’ve made changes to our HSBC Expat eligibility criteria
Hello
Based on our latest records, we understand that you currently enjoy the Premier benefits on your Expat account by virtue of the Premier status you hold in another country or region. We’re writing to let you know that we’ve reviewed and updated our HSBC Expat eligibility criteria.
What’s changing
As you’re already an HSBC Premier customer in another country or region:
- To be eligible for an HSBC Expat account, you’ll now need to maintain a minimum relationship balance* of £10,000 (or currency equivalent) with HSBC Expat; and
- Salary will no longer be a qualifying criteria option
*Calculated as average monthly balance held with HSBC Expat across current accounts, savings accounts and investments.
These eligibility criteria changes will take effect from 26 October 2026.
We acknowledge that as a longstanding HSBC Expat Premier customer this change may not be ideal. However, we hope you’ll understand it has been a number of years since our Premier criteria has been reviewed.
What you need to do
To continue enjoying the benefits of your HSBC Expat Premier account, please fund and maintain a minimum relationship balance of at least £10,000 by 26 October 2026.
If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria by this date, we’ll unfortunately need to progress with closing your account.
If you no longer need your account and would like it to be closed, please transfer any remaining funds from your accounts via online banking or mobile banking by 26 October 2026. Alternatively, you can call us to transfer any money.
