PS:这家之前是 Ramada by Wyndham 完全大车店的建筑,改成的 The Pell。所以建筑还是大车店···
As a new property, there are still many issues. So do not expect too much.
Background: Hyatt Globalist
Stay on a free night certificate.
Story before check in: I called Hyatt to book several months ago. I asked to book 1 King, but for some reason, the customer service booked 1 Queen. I thought there was no big difference (my huge mistake).
Story at check in: during check in, the Front Desk said that I booked 1 Queen. I asked whether it can be changed to 1 King, she said no as they were fully booked. I said ok that’s fine. After I went to the 1 Queen room, it was a huge disappoint: the 1 Queen room is just an area under stairs, with just half size of a regular 1 King or 2 Queen room. I was so disappointed and went to the Front Desk to ask for a change. Here is the conversation:
FD: we were fully booked.
Me: but I see you still have 1 King on your website for booking.
FD: there are still 50 people coming. I need to leave something for them.
Me: But you still have 1 King on sale and can be booked using points. In this case, I will book another King and then ask Hyatt Conceige to refund me.
FD: ok let me see … (typing) … Oh you are staying on points, then here
(changed 1 King for me).
Eventually FD changed my room to 1 King, which is just a regular 1 King room.
PS: after checking out, I see Hyatt pays The Pell $70 a night, which means they are far from fully booked (their BAR is around $300, if the occupancy rate is >95%, Hyatt would pay them BAR, not the highly discounted $70). Of course, it is also possible that their 1 Queen or 2 Double (both are half size rooms) are not booked out…
Breakfast: $15.95 for Adults and $12.95 for Kids, omelet included. As Globalist, I do not need to pay anything. However, the quality of the food is even worse than a regular Holiday Inn Express.
Facilitites: no pool (this is ok for me: I would not go to pool anyway). Others are quite basic (but new). Some doors to stairs are broken. No elevators. There are guest rooms under stairs (weired design).
In general, it is an ok hotel if you really want to stay at Hyatt around Newport.
PS: I observed there are only 2 ladies working on the front desk, so each of them needs to work ~12 hours a day. I understand they could be tired.
