Governor Newsom has signed AB 1154 and SB 543. This means that beginning January 1, 2026, California homeowners can add three ADUs (one detached, one interior conversion, and one <500sf JADU) to a single family property and rent all four units (3 ADUs plus the main house) to tenants with no owner-occupancy requirement.
